Well last week I went to Safeway to pick some up, and there were like 25 different brands atSafeway. So, obviously, this has been in the works for quite a while. Until that point, I thought that my desire for hard cider was my own idea. I was looking to find a cider that most resembled the french ciders I used to drink when I was 16 in Europe.
Well last week I went to Safeway to pick some up, and there were like 25 different brands at Safeway. You should definitely check them out. The two books that go into this the most are Book 5, Wizards of Trance and Book 7, Escaping Cultural Hypnosis, although all of the books approach the idea of us being manipulated via suggestions aimed at our subconscious from one aspect or another. Book 7, as it's title suggests, goes into a bit about what you can do about it, but mostly it's forewarned is forearmed. Dude knows what he's talking about. I was telling him about the Cider thing and he just laughed. He said that is how his business works.
He works with all the most big time bar tenders and chefs on the east coast and teaches them how to make new drinks, sell new product, place it on shelves, include it on there cocktail list, etc. This is especially true with big time bar tenders. Now these guys get a lot out of this arrangement. They get a ton of diageo product for cheap.
They get new recipes and cocktails to ensure they are a ahead of the curve in fact they are the curve , they get extra training for their bartenders. And this lays down the foundation for Diagio's entire marketing campaign. He said that the cider business got going about 3 years ago, with the idea that was the breakout year. The current trend they are building to are low-cost, not-peaty, low sugar yet still kind of sweet and smooth , bourbons. Basically, a new category of every-day bourbons made for mixing.
A Johnny Walker alternative if you will. This started with them pushing rye cocktails for a while. Now they want to evolve that taste even further with very simple whiskey cocktails that are essentially variants on whiskey-gingers I thought they tasted better in Manhattans. You are pretty much right on target. Nowthese guys get a lot out of this arrangement.
And this laysdown the foundation for Diagio's entire marketing campaign. So what is the formula above for creating fashionable ideas or ideas that can be fashioned?
